Pin Cushion, Message in a Bottle and a Card

Hey everybody, here are some images of the pin cushion, message in a bottle and a envelope with a cute pink card I made from some paper scraps, left over material and lace. Enjoy!

Pin Cushion

I took an abandoned (grin) matching cup and saucer and stuffed the inside of the cup with the stuffing of a discarded pillow. I measured a square of pink silk to stuff the stuffing in; formed a ball and secured it with an elastic band. Next I covered the silk with some matching lace and pushed it as deep as possible into the cup.  I glued pearls around the rim of the cup and secured a matching bow just above the ear. Next I decorated with artificial flowers from my stash and puts some pins for display.

Message in a bottle

Used an empty olive oil bottle, decorated with pink roses, rose paper, pearls, ribbon and a charm. Inside the bottle is a poem tied with silk ribbon, some rose petals and a string of pearls.

It is easy to recycle; think about uses before you throw something away

Card

Made the flowers with 3 difference round shapes using 3 matching papers. Matted pink striped paper on silver card. Matted a pink strip on the bottom of the card and added some small bling rounds.  I typed the sentiment on the shape on my computer and matted on thick white card stock.

12 x 12 layouts

I made these two layouts of my daughters.  I am pleased at the outcome as it reflects their different personalities perfectly. The youngest is 11 and the eldest is 18. Yeah I know the gap ....... and when I hear them quarrel and bicker as sisters do, I often wonder why I waited so long to have another but then things are the way they are and they are exactly as they should be :-).

HANNAH

My youngest daughter Hannah is heavy into her pink and purple and is turning out to be a real little fashionista - loving clothing and matching accessories so obviously I chose pink as the main colour for her layout.
  • The paper I used is This & That by Echo Park. The top and bottom are borders and strips I cut by the same paper range.
  • The 'lovely' sentiment n the left hand corner is by MME and is supported by dimensional squares.
  • The "girl" strip across the top and the flower strip under the photo I bought at a local supplier.
  • The purple heart garland strung across the photo and the green and pink leaves are by Petaloo.
  • The pink flower in the left hand corner, the 6 flowers with the glittererd petals, swirls and butterfly was bought at a local supplier.
  • Pearl swirls by Prima.
  • Artificial pink flowers, pink pom pom trim, butterflies from my stash.
  • I used vintage photo and aged mohogany on the edges of the 12x12 sheet of paper.
  • I layered the photo on pink mulberry papers which I tore by hand and inked the edges with aged mohogany.
  • The pink flower in the bottom right hand corner is by K&Company.
Here are pictures of the layout. Enjoy!

ROBYNE
Robyne is 18 going on 19 and is a part time model; I chose one of her modelling pictures for this layout. Isn't she beautiful!!! I am so proud of her.
  • The paper I used is Stella Rose by MME. This particular sheet is called Hattie "Family" Pinstripe.
  • The edges of the 12x12 sheet is inked with vintage photo and aged mahogany.
  • The sentiments are by the This&That collection by Echo Park.
  • The buttons I bought at a local supplier and the fancy floss tied in the buttons are by We R Memory Keepers.
  • The flower in the top left hand corner is sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mist. Feathers from my stash.
  • Behind the photo is a Dollie which I edged with Black Soot
  • The photo is framed by a lace sticker ribbon I bought at a local supplier.
  • flourishes at the bottom of the photo and on the sides of the paper is by Jolees Boutique.
  • I inked the dress form with Black soot then sprayed it with Granite Glimmer Mist.  I made the skirt with fabric I bought (the same shop I bought the buttons) specifically for this layout.  Layered it on some tulle that I lightly inked with black soot.
  • The lace top was from my stash and the belt was from a barbie collection my daughter no longer wanted.  The necklace was with bling from my stash.
  • Flowers are from Prima and the black leaves from my stash
  • Black striped ribbon from Stella Rose MME and the black lace and butterfly from a local supplier.
Here are pictures of the layout. Enjoy!

I will be posting a video on my YouTube channel detailing the above two layouts. I will then post the link below.

Shabby Chic Mini Album

I always admire the shabby chic mini albums' on YouTube and was dying to make one but did not feel I had the right embellishments on hand. To delay such a project even more whenever I went to the local scrap shop I bought for whatever projects I was busy with and of course they were not yet shabby chic!  A few weeks ago I started creating a design for an album; that is always how I go about a new album - I design first and decide on theme and embellishments after.  I decided shabby chic and challenged myself to use whatever I had in my scrap room only and I am happy to confirm I did not buy a single item for this album.

The papers and paper embellishments are a free kit I downloaded from the Internet ages go. About 80% of the flowers are artificial and the tags are cut from file folders I found.I used brushed corduroy and vintage photo,The binding is hair bands - an idea I got from Belinda Akers; a very talented lady on YouTube.  I used cereal boxes instead of chipboard and covered them in wrapping paper I had on hand. This paper was perfect not only because of its colours but also because of  the bird cages.

Thanks for stopping by :-)
